The Health Care Financing Administration would like to inform you of recent web postings to www.hcfa.gov regarding the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS).

First, on November 3, (as previously mentioned via this listserv), HCFA released a program memorandum to Medicare intermediaries regarding new drugs, biologicals, and devices eligible for transitional pass-through payments or payment through a "new technology" ambulatory payment classification (APC) effective January 1, 2001. That program memorandum can be viewed at:
www.hcfa.gov/pubforms/transmit/A0082.pdf

Second, we have provided Addendum A and Addendum B, which appeared in the
Federal Register (65 FR 67798) as part of the November 13, 2000 interim final rule with comment period (IFC), in Excel spreadsheet format that can be easily downloaded. The November 13, 2000 IFC provides for certain updates to the Medicare OPPS effective January 1, 2001. The spreadsheets and the IFC can be accessed by going to www.hcfa.gov/medlearn/refopps.htm  and clicking on the links for the interim rule and Addendum A and Addendum B.

Third, we have posted information about payment for APC groups involving the use of pacemakers and neurostimulator leads, generators, receivers, and transmitters effective for services furnished on or after January 1, 2001. This information can be found by going to www.hcfa.gov/medlearn/pace.htm

We hope this information will be useful to you.
