The Rx2000 Institute is an independent, non-profit member supported organization dedicated exclusively to informing the healthcare industry about business, technology and information issues that can have significant impacts on patient care and business continuity.
Multiple business and technology issues are seriously challenging healthcare. Patient care may be affected by increasing government efforts to regulate how care is monitored, recorded and delivered. As a provider of mission-critical information and training to the healthcare community, the Rx2000 Institute's mission is to help its members cooperatively address these industry-wide regulatory, technology and information delivery issues.
The Institute was created in 1996 and formally organized as an independent
nonprofit organization in early 1997. This was done after Institute management
determined there was a need for a neutral independent organization that
could address healthcare's critical Y2K risks. During and after the Y2K
crisis, Institute researchers continued extensive research into the impact
regulatory and technology challenges could have on the healthcare industry.
They determined that improperly implementing change could threaten a healthcare
organization's ability to deliver quality healthcare.
